Spyware Adopts Stealth Tech to Disrupt PCs
Malicious codes armed with detection-resistant technology are making their way into South Korea. Spyware with such stealth technology, dubbed “rootkits,” has become rampant without the knowledge of computer users because they are invisible, according to AhnLap, a leading anti-virus vaccine developer. Rootkits refer to a set of software tools that are activated each time the computer boots up. It can be bundled with malicious programs to cause mayhem covertly. Rootkits can conceal running processes, other files and system data from detection programs and this is why they are so dangerous. About half a million computers are suspected to be victims of rootkits.
