Microsoft spyware phishing email circulating
A new phishing message is circulating using Microsoft as a rue to get the unsuspecting email recipient to click on the link provided. AXcess News cautions anyone receiving this email to delete it immediately. The subject line of the email we received was titled “new update” - and the message says its from Microsoft. But the link provided is an .exe file which will implant malicious code on your desktop computer instead. Normally, messages containing malicious code will be identified by your filtering software, but as this fake email only contains a link, it will bypass most Spyware programs - including Trend Micro, the provider I use personally.
