Spyware remains very real threat
Historically, viruses have been the primary concern of computer users and network administrators. If you’ve used a computer for any length of time, you certainly remember various virus outbreaks and the nuisance they cause. As anti-virus technology has improved, the incidents of viruses infecting computers has reduced. Even with the proper protection, you still need to be vigilant. Most viruses enter computers via files transferred between users, either in e-mail or on disks. E-mail based viruses became the most popular method, but again, with the increasing effectiveness of perimeter defenses, like firewalls, along with regularly updated anti-virus software, the incidence of infection has reduced.
